Coping with COVID-19: General Health and Cleaning Guidelines

The Dance Docs would like to take this opportunity to convey some precautionary guidelines and information about protocols that can be put in place at dance facilities related to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19/SARS-CoV-2).  Much of the general health information bears repeating and serious attention in our shared workplace and in our daily lives. These are recommended guidelines based off of information from the the World Health Organization (WHO), Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the Florida Department of Health (FDOH). These are overall standards to maintain year round to help maintain your health and wellness in the studios and theater.

At this time please check with your local governments to understand the severity of COVID-19 in your region and if you should consider asking your employees to stay at home.

General Health Guidelines:

  • As always, if you are sick, please do not come into work until you are recovered. Stay at home and rest. (Be a good sick person)

    • If you are running a fever please stay home, and call your doctor or urgent care center. If you have a fever at this time you are considered to have COVID-19 until proven otherwise

      • Fever is considered 100.4°F or above

        • It is good to have disposable thermometers on hand to distribute to employees, or for dancers to take home.

    • If you have dry cough (2nd most common symptom of COVID-19) call your doctor or urgent care center

    • If you have shortness of breath (3rd most common sign of COVID-19) call your doctor or urgent care center

  • Follow the self distancing and self-isolation protocols recommended by the CDC.

    • If you are around people it is recommended to maintain a distance of 6 feet (3 meters)

    • Self-isolation is recommended for 14 days for all individuals who have travelled internationally

    • If you have been around anyone who is sick, running a fever, or has been around an individual who has been traveling internationally, it is recommended that you self-isolate for 14 days

  • If you or someone you know from our workplace becomes ill (whether from coronavirus or a more common flu or cold), please inform the appropriate people so special attention can be given to particular dressing rooms and/or work areas that person may have frequented in your business.

  • It is encouraged that you to be extra vigilant and regularly sterilize your personal items (cellphones, outside of water bottles, etc.) or shared items (barre’s, gym equipment, hand weights, balls etc.)
